Today, Fakeup.

I was pleasantly surprised this morning as it’s something I’ve not tried before and it’s also a decent size. I thought Benefit were being generous, what with today being Christmas Eve and all. That’s what I thought until I opened it. The amount of product you get is miniscule and the packaging is out of all proportion. Look…

Yep, that little bit sticking up right at the top is all you get. All that packaging… for that!!

Packaging aside, I do like this.

I forgot to take a picture from above before I used it but here it is afterwards:

It’s all a bit mixed up now I’ve used it but you can still see that the colour is down the centre and the outer part is white. It’s a bit weird. It is described as “hydrating crease-control concealer.” The shade is 02, medium. It is also available in light and deep. I take it that the outer bit is the hydrating part. It’s a kind of balm and when you put it on it mixes with the colour. There aren’t any streaks or odd looking bits!

You apply it by dragging it under the eye and then using your finger to blend by patting. It glides on smoothly and doesn’t pull the delicate skin. Here’s a swatch on the back of my hand:

The shade is a little dark for me. I find it’s best to go a shade lighter under the eye. It does seem to hydrate the skin very well and it feels nice on. It’s not heavy. It instantly reduces under eye circles but not as much as my fave Stay Don’t Stray. Perhaps that is because it isn’t my shade.

It claims not to cake, crease or settle. Unfortunately I did find that as the day went on and it dried out and did cake a little. When it did that, it made the wrinkles under my eye appear more prominent. You can reapply it over the top of your makeup so perhaps if I had it would have rehydrated and fared a little better.

All in all, it’s decent enough but I’d have to try the light shade to really test its mettle.

Amazability factor: 7/10 (I like it)

So, that’s the end of the Benefit advent calendar blog it’s time for me to say what I thought about it overall. It’s all well and good Benefit saying that the contents are worth £40 more than I paid for it, but what would I have paid for them? Here is my hoard:

I have been keeping a tally of what I would have paid for each item. It varies from 5p for the paperclips (pfft!) to £5.00 for the perfectly holiday sized Bad Gal Lash mascara. In total, it seems I paid £12.50 more for the advent calendar than I would have for the contents. Disappointing, but I have enjoyed it and have discovered some gems along the way. I am definitely adding Stay Don’t Stray to my makeup bag and I have some perfectly sized lippies for my 2015 holiday. I don’t know whether or not I will buy another next year. Perhaps. It’s certainly more fun than a chocolate version and the calorie count is low!

Next month: No. 7 advent calendar. I’ve got a feeling I’m going to need to treat my skin after the overindulgence that is Christmas.

Thanks for reading. Merry Christmas!
