Look Fantastic Advent Calendar 2015 Review. Day 25.

A little late but I’m sure you’ll forgive me. ūüôā ¬†I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas and Santa brought you lots of beautiful things.

The last advent calendar item was fab and made a lovely Christmas gift from Look Fantastic. It’s an original Tangle Teezer hairbrush in pink, worth ¬£10.50.

It fits into your hand perfectly so is comfortable to use and glides through tangles easily, all the while minimising damage. You can use it on wet or dry hair and having tried it I can tell you that it’s equally effective on both. You can also take it into the shower with you to help distribute your conditioner or other hair treatment evenly. It also definitely minimises tearing. There was only a little bit of hair in the Tangle Teezer after use when my hair was dry (and none after use when it was wet) which was nothing compared to the amount I’d usually lose in my paddle brush. I think my paddle brush is out and the Tangle Teezer is in! I love it in pink too.

Although there has been the occasional thing I haven’t been a huge fan of, all in all I’m super impressed with the contents of the Look Fantastic Advent Calendar and I’ll definitely be buying another next year. It’s the most generous one I’ve opened so far, with the total value of the items within it being in excess of ¬£240.¬†I’ve also discovered some new firm favourites. Hello, Eve Lom! ‚̧

I’ll be turning to the YouBeauty calendar in January, so I’ll speak to you again then. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the festive season and have a very Happy New Year.

Love, love. Lou xx

Look Fantastic Advent Calendar 2015 Review. Day 24.

It’s Christmas Eve! ūüėÄ Merry Christmas, you beautiful lot. xx

Today’s isn’t the last door. There’s another for Christmas Day but I hope you’ll understand if I don’t blog about whatever is behind it until Boxing Day.

Today, it’s Nuxe’s Reve De Miel face¬†cleansing and makeup removing gel – a 15ml tube worth around ¬£1 (the RRP is only ¬£14 for 200ml). It smells spicy and foody. Apparently it contains honey and caramel, so that will be why. It is (as the name suggests!) designed to cleanse and remove makeup. It’s also supposed to “soothe and soften.”

IMG_6297 (2)

It’s easy peasy to use – you simply lather, rinse and dry.

It did leave my skin feeling squeaky clean but also rather dry. I needed to moisturise¬†immediately. It certainly didn’t seem to soften.

What can I say?! It’s not Eve Lom –¬†I’ve been spoiled by that now I think.¬†Still, it¬†is effective – my face is clean and my makeup has gone, so I think 6.5/10 is fair.

Have a wonderful Christmas, lovelies and I will speak to you again on Boxing Day.

Look Fantastic Advent Calendar 2015 Review. Day 23.

Latest. Post. Ever.

Sorry folks, this is a late one and will be a short one. Mostly because I’m a bit squiffy. :/ ¬†But it’s two days before Christmas, so that’s allowed, right?? ūüėÄ Although I’m writing this up squiffy, I was sober when I tried the product!

Today we’ve got Murad’s Rapid Collagen Infusion which apparently “reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in 2 hours.”

Well I’m afraid to say that with me, it didn’t.

It’s a very light and soft cream – very pleasant to apply but you need quite a bit to cover the face, neck and chest as is recommended on the packaging. I don’t think this 5ml bottle (worth more than ¬£10 and which came in what seemed to be an unnecessary outer bag) will last very long. After 2 hours I checked out my skin and I can’t say I noticed an improvement. I mean, it felt a little more moisturised but that was about it. Several hours later and there are still no notable effects.

This serum type product (to be applied before moisturiser) ¬†has won awards and the reviews I’ve seen online are overwhelmingly positive but it just didn’t do it for me. It may do for you – don’t let me put you off! In any sample of consumers there are always some who don’t see the same benefits others do. Maybe this time, that’s me!

3/10 – I expected dramatic results but was disappointed.

Look Fantastic Advent Calendar 2015 Review. Day 22.

Oh, Look Fantastic, I HEART you! ‚̧

Today it’s Eve Lom’s cleanser – a very generous 30ml pot.

You warm it between your fingers and apply to dry skin, massaging in circular movements. You then soak the muslin cloth in hot water, hold it on your face for 5 seconds and repeat a few times before finishing with cold water.

It looks like it’s going to be a balm type consistency but it’s softer than it looks¬†(I took some out before remembering to take this¬†pic to show you).

IMG_6103 (2)

It melts into your skin and feels amazing – super luxurious¬†and warming.¬†You only need a bit (I took too much out) as a little goes a very long way. It’s also very effective. It has removed my mascara and eyeliner no trouble at all. Unlike with other cleansers I’ve used when I’ve had to resort to separate eye makeup remover, this gets rid of it all and leaves my skin feeling¬†remarkably clean and moisturised before I’ve even thought about moisturiser.

While I’m on the subject of moisturiser, I ran out of Cult 51 yesterday, having used it every night since day 9 (that little pot lasted a long time). I’m going to miss it. It has definitely improved my skin which feels plumper and softer than it did before I started. My pores are less visible and the dark circles under my eyes have been significantly reduced. I wish I could afford to keep using this miracle cream (and I definitely forgive the less than gorgeous fragrance). Why is everything I love so darn expensive?!

Back to the cleanser… do you remember I said earlier in the month that giving the circulation a boost does wonders for the skin? Well this cleanser does just that. My face is flushed and pink after use and just looks healthy.

This size pot sells for ¬£30 but the bigger you buy, the less you pay per ml. Look Fantastic have a fab per ml price on a massive 450ml tub at the mo (here). It’s ¬£140, down from ¬£250. I know that’s still a HUGE amount to spend on cleanser but there’s a site-wide 10% offer code available at the moment AND¬†you get a free beauty essentials kit worth ¬£50 when you spend ¬£55 or more. It’s a huge tub and as you don’t need much you get a lot for your money. You certainly wouldn’t need to be buying cleanser¬†any time soon! If that’s out of the question, it’s still worth checking out the smaller sizes¬†(here).

As soon as I’d tried this I went straight online to place an order. This is definitely a new firm favourite.

10/10 (actually, am I allowed an 11??)

P.S.¬†If you want to try this cleanser (or anything else from Look Fantastic) and are signed up to Top Cashback, there’s a great rate of cashback (up to 12.12%!) at the moment which brings the price down even further. Look Fantastic Advent Calendar 2015 Review. Day 21.

I’ve not been looking forward to today. The little note on door made it clear there was fake tan behind it and I don’t DO fake tan.

FullSizeRender (23)

It’s a 50ml tube of St. Tropez Instant Tan, worth ¬£5.00.

I know I have give it a go, so I apply it to my leg (just the one) first thing in the morning. It¬†is dark so you can see where you’re applying it and monitor the colour build-up on your skin. It’s also fairly runny.

I will say this for it – it’s not orange. I’m sure if applied correctly it ¬†produce a natural looking finish.

However, mine is patchy. I haven’t used a mitt (although doing so is recommended) and like I said, I’m a novice, so I don’t really have any idea what I’m doing.

It is supposed to be transfer resistant and although my leg has been covered all day (and rubbing against my trousers) the colour only faded a little¬†(albeit unevenly). I’ve washed it off now and it was easily removed with¬†soap and water.

Oh sheesh… I really do feel like a fish out of water, reviewing fake tan.

I.        HAVE.        NO.        CLUE.

Sorry folks. It’s going to have to be a 3/10 today (3 because it’s easy to see the colour build up and easy to remove). I know St. Tropez is a brand lots of people love and I’m sure they will have been delighted to find this behind door number 21. I wasn’t. :/

Look Fantastic Advent Calendar 2015 Review. Day 20.

Only 5 days to go – can you believe it?? I hope everyone is ready and feeling festive. ūüôā

Today we’ve got Molton Brown’s Black Peppercorn body wash – 100ml, worth ¬£6.00.

This is one for the ¬†boys!¬†It’s a lovely masculine fragrance which lingers on the skin. A little goes a long way and it leaves skin feeling very clean.

There’s one day left for last minute panic buys! If you’re stuck for a gift for him, there are some lovely Black Peppercorn gift sets available, like this one¬†or (if you’re after more of a stocking filler)¬†this one.

Nice but I want more stuff for meeeeeeeeeeeee! ūüėČ ¬† 7/10

Lou.

P.S. in case you missed the update, yesterday’s eyeshadow was worth just under ¬£7.50.

Look Fantastic Advent Calendar 2015 Review. Day 19.

Today we have an eyeshadow (yey – makeup!) It’s Bare Minerals loose powder shadow in Wearable Plum Light. As the name suggests – the shade is very wearable!

I like purple eyeshadows anyway – they make my eyes look green whereas orange based shadows make them look blue. It’s because those colours are at the opposite end of the colour spectrum. Google Colour Wheel, look for your eye colour and choose a shade directly opposite it in the wheel to enhance the natural colour of your eyes. You might be surprised by how much a¬†shade¬†you ordinarily wouldn’t choose suits you. Give it a go! Be brave!

In fact, no… here’s a colour wheel for you. Now you have no excuse!

color-wheel.png

Anyway – back to this. It’s a lovely matte finish, really easy to apply and lasts an impressively long time.¬†I’ve been wearing it all day. I would say it’s more of a daytime shade but I’ve built it up for this evening so it’s a little deeper now. Here it is:

FullSizeRender[2]

It’s also crease proof which is great for those of us who aren’t in our 20s anymore.

I really like this and I’m impressed by how well it’s lasted. I’ll definitely buy more.

I don’t have time now so I’ll look into how much it’s worth tomorrow and will come back to update this post.

9/10. Me likey.

Lou x

Update 20.12.15: Based on the RRP of the full sized eyeshadow, this gorgeous little pot is worth just under £7.50.
